HOYA Reports Increased Eyeglass and Contact Lenses Sales for Last Quarter
HOYA has recently reported its financial results for the last quarter from January to March 2017.
In HOYA's eyeglass lens segment sales increased nearly 5% after eliminating the impact of foreign currency exchange. However sales in Japan fell 3%, dragging down overall performance. Growth in Europe was generally in line with market growth at between 1% and 2%. In the Americas, where we engaged in M&A, sales growth was in the double digits. Like-for-like growth, even after eliminating the impact of M&A, was between 6% and 7%. Growth in Asia was between 12% and 13%. In the Americas, sales growth outpaced market growth by a significant margin.
The company's contact lens segment reported sales growth by nearly 5%. Over the past five to six years, HOYA has been opening (more) stores in large shopping malls in outlying regions of Japan. In Tokyo, HOYA is opening stores in new areas. The company added further that it still have capacity to open new stores.
