Chanel Launches Direct B2C Eyewear E-Commerce

Chanel.comChanel has recently launched their first e-commerce venture with a site devoted entirely to its eponymous eyewear. The Chanel eyewear brand is part of Luxottica's eyewear portfolio.

The chanel.com site previously only allowed sunglasses purchase (on the US site) but has now added the optical frames section to its site. There are over 400 frames on the website and you can even have a virtual try-on while shopping on the site. However, adding prescription lenses to the optical frames is not available yet. Apparently, the company has also a different initial online market approach for each of the 50 different countries/regions/locations available via the website. For instance, the US section allows for online ordering of sunglasses and optical frames whereas the Australian section only allows for virtual try-on of the eyewear. We expect that all regions will eventually provide full e-commerce functionality.
