MEI Expands Internationally
MEI, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-tech machinery for the optical industry, is advancing its global footprint with significant expansions across multiple locations. This move reflects its dedication to innovation, employee welfare, and customer service.
At its headquarters in Italy, MEI is doubling the facility size to 20,000 square meters. This growth, spurred by an 81% increase in workforce between 2020 and 2023, includes state-of-the-art amenities such as a large showroom, a 300-space underground parking area, and a restaurant terrace. The expansion aims to enhance productivity, employee well-being, and service quality, with completion slated for late 2024.
MEI USA has also witnessed continuous growth, culminating in a new 60,000-square-foot headquarters in Itasca, Illinois, set to open by mid-2025. This facility will include cutting-edge features like electric vehicle charging stations, a spacious demonstration area, and innovative office spaces. This marks the latest chapter in MEI's 17-year expansion journey in the U.S.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, MEI System do Brasil has relocated to a larger headquarters in São Paulo, providing better facilities for showcasing its technologies. Similarly, in Asia, MEI is reinforcing its presence with revamped offices in Hong Kong, a critical hub for regional customer service, and recent expansions in Japan and India. These developments underline MEI’s commitment to servicing strategic global markets effectively.
“Our Group currently has 353 employees worldwide distributed across 6 branches – Italy, the USA, Brazil, Asia, India, and Japan – and in 4 offices dedicated to Customer Service in Texas, California, Colombia, and the United Kingdom,” declares Stefano Sonzogni, President of MEI. “We believe that the relationship and assistance to our clients are fundamental and represent a significant aspect of our work. Therefore, we are undertaking an important expansion effort both in Italy and abroad, enlarging our branches and customer service offices.”
