Hoya Launches Sustainability Program Focused on Environment, Community, and Workplace

Hoya Launches Sustainability Program Focused on Environment, Community, and WorkplaceHoya Vision Care has announced the launch of its ambitious sustainability initiative, "One Vision." This program, deeply ingrained within the company's corporate strategy, is built on three fundamental pillars: environment, community, and workplace. With a commitment to making a positive impact across these dimensions, Hoya Vision Care aims to set a new standard for sustainable business practices.

Under the environment pillar, the program sets forth an array of initiatives designed to reduce the company's ecological footprint. A significant focus lies on waste prevention, particularly within the context of minimizing water usage during the manufacturing process. Additionally, Hoya aims to strengthen its commitment to environmental protection and employee safety and health. An impressive objective within this pillar is the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. Hoya Vision Care has set its sights on achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2040, with an interim target of reaching 60% by 2030.

The community pillar is dedicated to addressing the global vision care gap, which affects a staggering 2.2 billion individuals grappling with vision impairment or blindness. The Global Eye Health Report has highlighted that nearly half of these cases could be mitigated or corrected through proper access to eye care. In a pivotal move, Hoya has forged a three-year partnership with Orbis International. Launched in the previous year, this collaboration is projected to have screened over 500,000 children suffering from vision disparities by 2025.

Within the workplace pillar, Hoya is committed to cultivating a culture of sustainable leadership across all organizational levels, firmly rooted in its core values. The company's objective is to attract and nurture exceptional talent while fostering an inclusive environment that thrives on teamwork. Currently, Hoya Vision Care offers an impressive array of over 16,000 training courses, available in 13 languages. This initiative seeks to enhance internal talent mobility and optimize the selection and development of effective leadership.

Alexandre Montague, CEO of Hoya Vision Care, emphasizes the company's responsibility as a global player to address critical issues such as climate change and community engagement. Montague states, "We have a clear responsibility to focus on climate change, to work with and give back to the communities where we operate, including reducing the vision health gap, and to build a strong, highly trained workforce filled with career opportunities to ensure a robust future."

As a testament to its commitment to transparency, Hoya Vision Care will provide annual progress reports on the implementation and achievements of the One Vision program. This approach underscores the company's dedication to accountability and driving meaningful change in the domains of environment, community, and workplace.

Hoya Vision Care's One Vision sustainability program sets an inspiring example of a company proactively addressing pressing global challenges while simultaneously elevating its business practices. With its multi-faceted approach, the program is poised to make a tangible difference, shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future for all.
