EssilorLuxottica Acquires Cellview Imaging to Expand Med-Tech Capabilities

Furthering its commitment to raising industry standards and improving the quality of vision care, EssilorLuxottica has acquired Cellview Imaging Inc., a Canadian start-up specialising in innovative diagnostics through retinal imaging. With Cellview’s proprietary technologies, the Group is expanding its portfolio of ophthalmic instruments and solutions, strengthening its presence in the med-tech sector.

Based in Toronto, Cellview designs and manufactures cutting-edge diagnostic imaging instruments, drawing on strong in-house research and development expertise. Currently available in North America, Cellview’s advanced solutions enable eyecare professionals to diagnose retinal conditions using an ultra-widefield retinal camera that captures significantly larger images than most existing technologies.

Cellview’s product range is FDA and CE-approved, catering to a broad market – from eyecare practices in retail settings to ophthalmology clinics. The company’s distribution is set to expand into new regions, starting with Europe.
