EssilorLuxottica Expands Malaysia Presence with Acquisition of Leading Optical RetailerGlobal vision care and eyewear leader EssilorLuxottica has announced a significant expansion of its retail footprint in Southeast Asia with the acquisition of one of Malaysia’s largest optical chains, operating over 90 stores under the A-Look, Seen, and OWL banners.

The deal, expected to close by the end of June 2025 pending customary closing conditions, marks a major step in strengthening EssilorLuxottica’s presence in the dynamic Asia Pacific region. The acquisition includes a robust omnichannel retail network that spans both East and Peninsular Malaysia.

Founded in 2003 by Dato Terry Ngeow, A-Look has grown into a prominent player in the Malaysian optical market, known for its multi-branded product offering and accessible in-store experiences. Together with the Seen and OWL banners, the group has become a well-regarded name in Malaysian eyewear retail.

Through this acquisition, EssilorLuxottica aims to enhance its integrated retail and wholesale strategy in Malaysia. The Group, which already operates local lens production facilities and retail operations in the country, sees this move as a way to further elevate standards in vision care and accelerate market digitalization.
