Global Momentum Builds for Myopia Management as Myopia Action Month Sees Record Engagement

Global Momentum Builds for Myopia Management as Myopia Action Month Sees Record EngagementA worldwide movement to prioritise myopia management is gaining speed, with Myopia Profile reporting record engagement across its platforms during this year’s Myopia Action Month.

The initiative, now in its third year, achieved explosive growth in participation compared to previous campaigns, underscoring the growing global commitment among eye care professionals (ECPs) to address the escalating prevalence of childhood myopia.

Throughout September, ECPs and industry experts around the world accessed free, evidence-based educational content, designed to strengthen clinical expertise and encourage community engagement in myopia management.

This year’s program was informed by clinician feedback and featured short educational videos, focused lectures, practical business tools, and shareable patient resources, all aimed at empowering ECPs to integrate myopia management more effectively into their practices.

According to Myopia Profile, engagement across its platforms surpassed 3 million interactions, with the Myopia Action Month webpage recording a 40% year-on-year increase and more than fourfold growth compared to 2023. Organic activity across social channels surged as well, with average daily posting reaching 11 posts per day and over 70% of all Myopia Action Month content originating from outside Myopia Profile.

The massive interaction this year shows that listening to the eye care community pays off,” said Dr. Kate Gifford, co-founder of Myopia Profile. “We look forward to gathering feedback from this year to make next year’s Myopia Action Month even stronger, continuing to evolve and deliver content that truly supports ECPs and advances children’s vision care worldwide.

The campaign aligns with the World Council of Optometry’s global advocacy for myopia patient care and was supported by a strong cohort of industry sponsors, including CooperVision, EssilorLuxottica, HOYA, Johnson & Johnson, Menicon, OCULUS, Ocumetra, Alcon, Eyerising International, SEED, Topcon Healthcare Europe, and SightGlass Vision.

With myopia management increasingly recognised as a cornerstone of paediatric eye health, the momentum generated by Myopia Action Month highlights the profession’s united effort to raise awareness, drive education, and deliver better outcomes for young patients worldwide.
