Women With Vision: New Initiative Aims to Unite and Empower Female Leaders in Optical Industry

Women With Vision: New Initiative Aims to Unite and Empower Female Leaders in Optical IndustryA new initiative designed to support and connect women working across Australia's eyewear and eyecare sectors has been launched, with its inaugural event scheduled for 15 March 2026.

Women With Vision has been established by longstanding friends in the optical industry, Jacque Katsieris and Lisa Cappuccio, who share a deep passion for creativity, connection and community. After years of walking parallel paths, they came together to create a platform that celebrates the women shaping the future of optics.

Grounded in authenticity and collaboration, their shared mission is to inspire, empower and connect those who bring heart and innovation to the independent optical industry.

Despite women representing the majority of workers across many areas of the optical sector, the initiative's founders say many female professionals still face challenges when it comes to leadership recognition and career advancement.

The program addresses persistent workplace dynamics where women who demonstrate assertiveness or passion in their roles may face criticism for being "too emotional" or "difficult" – labels that can discourage capable professionals from pursuing leadership positions.

"In an industry like ours where women make up the majority across so many areas of optics, it's frustrating that so many still feel they have to hold back," organisers noted in announcing the initiative.

Women With Vision aims to provide a supportive environment where female optical professionals can build genuine connections, access mentorship opportunities and develop their leadership capabilities without fear of judgment.

The inaugural event on 15 March 2026 will bring together women from across the eyecare and eyewear sectors for networking, professional development and knowledge sharing designed to strengthen the community of women working in Australian optics.

The initiative emphasises the importance of women supporting one another throughout their careers, recognising that access to strong female mentors and allies can be transformative for professional development.
