Belgian Brand KOMONO Unveils Seven Key Eyewear Trends Shaping 2026
Antwerp-based label launches Q1 collection showcasing burgundy tones, reimagined aviators and photochromic innovation
Belgian eyewear brand KOMONO has released its Q1 2026 optical and sunglasses collection, presenting seven distinct trends the brand believes will define the eyewear landscape throughout the year.
Now available for delivery to optical retailers, the collection represents a cohesive vision rather than isolated designs, with each trend reflecting evolving consumer preferences in shape, colour and functionality.
Colour and material innovation lead the charge
The burgundy palette emerges as a standout direction for 2026, with KOMONO offering frames in deep wine tones through to softer red-brown hues. The Isabella Red Jasper (56▫15-145) and Alice Burgundy (51▫21-145) models exemplify this warm, sophisticated aesthetic.

Traditional tortoiseshell patterns receive a contemporary update through vibrant colour accents, whilst gradient acetates create visual movement through horizontal and vertical colour transitions. The Iggy Thyme Blush and Mia Wisteria frames demonstrate this "fluid fade" technique.
Classic silhouettes meet modern execution
Aviator styles remain prominent but with significant reinterpretation. KOMONO's collection features both classic clean lines and bold iterations incorporating oversized shapes, droopy lenses and double nose bridges, as seen in the Elodie Havana and Eden Algae models.
Minimalist design receives attention through precision engineering, with chamfered and beveled edges replacing sharp angles across frames like the Rae Black (47▫24-145) and Giselle Flake (51.5▫23-145).

Functionality gains fashion credentials
Photochromic lens technology features prominently in the collection, with KOMONO positioning adaptive lenses as a style statement rather than purely functional choice. Models including the Romeo Smoked Rum Spark and Archie Grand Black Rain Shade incorporate lenses that darken outdoors and lighten indoors.
Industrial-inspired metal frames complete the trend forecast, with stainless steel constructions such as the Percy Gun Giraffe and Ronny Gold Algae delivering architectural aesthetics through clean lines and construction-influenced details.
The collection will be showcased at MIDO, the international optics and eyewear exhibition in Italy.
KOMONO, based in Antwerp, has built its reputation on accessible luxury positioning within the fashion-optical sector. In Australia, the brand is distributed by ProOptics Pty Ltd.
