ColorBoost Secures European Patent for Colour-Enhancing Lens Technology
Texas-based optical innovator strengthens IP portfolio with landmark patent approval, partners with Charmant for HEAD Eyewear integration
ColorBoost Inc. has secured a significant European patent for its proprietary colour-enhancing lens technology, positioning the company for expanded market penetration across major European territories.
The European Patent Office has granted the company European Patent No. EP3721272, providing legal protection for ColorBoost's high-contrast, colour-enhancing lenses across all major European markets. The patent adds to the company's growing intellectual property portfolio, which now includes more than 30 patents across the EU, UK, US, and Asian markets.
According to ColorBoost, the lenses are engineered to more than double colour intensity whilst maintaining what the company describes as optimal colour accuracy. The technology is designed for both everyday wear and athletic applications.
Technical specifications
The company measures lens performance using two proprietary metrics: the Colour Resolution Factor (CRF), which quantifies distinct colour transmissions, and the Colour Accuracy Factor (CAF). ColorBoost claims its lenses achieve the highest CRF in the industry whilst maintaining a 99% CAF rating, which the company says preserves natural hues and depth perception.

The lenses are available throughout Europe as plano, single-vision, and progressive options through authorised optical dispensers.
Strategic partnership
ColorBoost has also announced a collaboration with Japanese frame manufacturer Charmant, the official partner of HEAD Eyewear. The partnership will enable selected HEAD sunglasses to be fitted with ColorBoost lenses directly at optical practices, expanding the brand's presence in the sports and performance segment.
"Did you know you can see over 30,000 additional colours that patients can experience with ColorBoost lenses?" said Justin Fong, CEO of ColorBoost Inc. "We believe everyone deserves this kind of visual experience, and we are committed to bringing it to the world."
Industry advisory
Fong cautioned optical professionals about non-patented colour-enhancing lenses from international suppliers, recommending that practitioners request solid patent information and clear declarations from suppliers before stocking such products.
The patent approval comes as colour-enhancing lens technology continues to gain traction in both the performance eyewear and everyday optical markets, with applications spanning sports, lifestyle, and therapeutic uses.
