SILMO d'Or 2026 Names Brussels-Based Industrial Designer as Jury President

SILMO d'Or 2026 Names Brussels-Based Industrial Designer as Jury PresidentThe prestigious SILMO d'Or design award has announced that Joachim Froment, an industrial designer and creative director based in Brussels, will serve as President of the Jury for its 2026 edition. The appointment signals a deliberate shift towards a broader, more future-oriented vision of design as the annual awards programme continues to evolve.

Froment brings a distinctive cross-disciplinary perspective to the role. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, he built his early career in Copenhagen among leading Scandinavian design names before co-founding Futurewave, a design and technology studio with a global client roster that includes Renault, LVMH, Richemont and several pioneering tech companies.

His design philosophy centres on what he describes as a "symbiosis between poetry and industry", a conviction that objects should transcend their function to become vehicles for experience and emotion. This thinking has earned him recognition across multiple international platforms, including the iF Design Awards, Good Design Awards and Core77 Awards.

Perhaps most notably for the eyewear industry, Froment advocates an "ecosystemic" approach to design, one that moves beyond human-centred thinking to consider products as integral components within a circular system. Across categories spanning furniture, mobility, lighting and consumer electronics, his work consistently explores the relationship between user, object and environment.

For SILMO Paris, the appointment reflects the SILMO d'Or's ongoing ambition to engage with the broader creative and technological forces reshaping contemporary design, territory that increasingly intersects with modern optics and wearable technology.

The SILMO d'Or 2026 nominees and winners will be revealed when the show opens its doors at Paris Nord Villepinte from 25 to 28 September 2026.
